PURPOSE:To obtain a flat vertical magnetic recording medium causing no curling and having high reliability and high quality by forming nonmagnetic layers on both sides of a flexible substrate and ferromagnetic layers on the nonmagnetic layers. CONSTITUTION:A flexible substrate 6 such as a plastic film is heated and held at a prescribed temp. at which no curling is caused, and nonmagnetic layers 7a, 7b of Ti, Cr or the like are formed on both sides of the substrate. The substrate is then heated and held at a temp. most suitable for attaining desired vertical coercive force, and vertically anisotropic hard ferromagnetic layers 8a, 8b of Co-Cr or the like are formed on the layers 7a, 7b to obtain a vertical magnetic recording medium. |
