The side surfaces (4) of skis have surfaces which begin in the direct vicinity of the edges (3), extend over the majority of the length of the ski, converge towards the upper side (1) and enclose an angle of 30 to 50 DEG with the sole (2). The inclination of the side surfaces leads to a reduction of lateral friction forces during skiing and facilitates changes in direction in deep snow and guarantees a more effective gripping of the edges on hard and frozen snow. <IMAGE>
