<p>In order to sealingly couple a tubular element 12 to a second element 16 having an annular coupling flange 14, the element 12 is provided with a leading end 50 having a convex part-spherical outer surface 52 which is received by complementary surfaces 40 and 72 formed respectively on an annular mounting flange 32 and an annular retainer flange 56 connected to the mounting flange 32 by bolts 62. The mounting flange 32 has a leading end 34 which seats against a seating face 24 on the coupling flange 14, being held by studs 30 which also pass through the retainer flange 56 and are fitted with nuts 84. When the nuts 84 are tightened, the assembly is held firmly together and the leading end 50 is clamped between the surfaces 40 and 72, but when the nuts are slackened off to an unlocked position, sliding of the bolts 62 in their holes 64 permits relative movement of the flanges 32 and 56, thus permitting the desired swiveling or pivoting movement of the element 12 in relation to the remainder of the assembly.</p> |
