PURPOSE:To reduce the size of an ink jet recorder wherein ink particles from plural nozzles are independently charged and deflected and improve its reliability and make its maintenance easier by causing one sensor to detect the charged condition of ink particles. CONSTITUTION:Ink particles 5 from a nozzle 1 are charged by a charging electrode 6 in response to signals of an information signal source 7, and deflected by a deflection electrode 8 and they draw a recording image 12 on a recording medium 10, and those ink particles not charged are not deflected and they are caught and recovered by a gutter 11. A common sensor 20 for detecting simultaneously or time sharingly the charged condition of each ink particle is provided, and when charged particles 5 pass through as shown by broken lines, signals are induced in a signal electrode Ps and sent out to a phase-shifting circuit 22 through a signal processing circuit 21. At the time of initiation of use, the sensor 20 located at the left end of the recording medium 10 detects the charged condition of ink particles from an ink jet recorder 30 for black ink first, and then that of ink particles for red ink, and ink particles are controlled by phase-shifting and set to normally charged signals. |
