<p>Mechanism for removing adhering soil from flower bulbs etc., comprises a largely cylindrical drum which is supported and driven to rotate about its axis, a supply chute for the bulbs and rinsing water at one end, and a discharge chute for bulbs and water at the other end of the drum. The drum wall is un-perforated and has a conical portion converging to a co-axial cylindrical discharge end of smaller dia. The drum axis slopes downwards towards this end such that the water level, which is determined by the water discharge, extends to near the inlet end. Used for removing soil from flower bulbs etc. The inclination and non-perforated wall of the drum provide the same handling capacity with lower water consumption than a larger horizontal drum with perforated wall of prior art. Lower amts. of discharge water reduce the cost of purificn. before disposal.</p> |
