New liq. compsn. comprises sucroglycerides (I), esp. 35-45 wt. %, and an oil (II), pref. 55-65 wt.%, which is liq. at room temp. Esp. (I) are derived from palm oil, tallow, lard or copra oil, and (II) is esp. rapeseed, groundnut, maize, sunflower, poppy seed or cottonseed oil. Molten (I), pref. at 70-75 deg.C, and (II), pref. at 10-25 deg.C, are mixed, homogenised gently for a short time, than cooled to at most 22 deg.C and stirred gently again. Compsnsn. are useful as emulsifiers for hydrophobic cpds. in water, e.g. in prodn. of cakes, baked goods, jams nonalcoholic beverages, etc., and also in cosmetic formulations. (I) are completely bio-egradable, nontoxic, without colour or taste, and are well tolerated. They are now available in a form which is liq. at room temp. (contrast the pasty consistency of (I) by themselves). |
