The invention relates to a fastening wedge for tool handles, in particular for machinist's hammers, which is driven into the handle end of the tool handle and wedges the tool handle in the tool head. The aim of the invention is to achieve a more effective and longer-lasting fastening of the tool handle in the tool head. The object of the invention is to develop a fastening wedge for tool handles with which an additional expanding action is exerted on the tool-handle end located in the tool head. This object is achieved by the fastening wedge being expanded in its front section in its effective position by a driving element projecting through the wedge in the drive-in direction, as a result of which an additional expanding action is applied to the end of the tool handle and thus better wedging of the tool handle in the tool head is obtained. The invention is used in hammers and similar hand tools. <IMAGE>
