<p>The parent patent describes a protective cover for a skin puncture through which a catheter etc. enters a patient's body. The cover is made of flexible material, esp. plastic such as polyurethane foam. A pressure sensitive adhesive is used to fix the cover to the skin around the puncture. A radial slot in the cover allows the catheter etc. to pass axially or obliquely through the block. One section of the slot is orientated in a direction different from that of the section of the slot adjacent to the skin skin. This type of slot guides and stedies a catheter etc. to reduce stresses around the puncture.</p> |
