In order to make a releasable pivoting connection between lavatory bowls and lavatory seats or lids stable, the hinge comprises two resilient jaws (65, 67) which engage over the pin (87). A closing member (85) is pressed over the jaws (65, 67) simultaneously with the pin (87) and thereby drives the jaws (65, 67) additionally against the pin (87). The jaws are arranged on a mounting part (69) which can be fastened to the lavatory bowl (83) via a crossbar connection (71, 73, 75, 77) and a screw bolt (81). The bearing lugs (95a, b) of the lid or seat ride on the pin (87). <IMAGE>
