A pneumatic impulse device is proposed which has a hollow housing (1), in the interior of which a percussion body (2) is arranged in a reciprocating manner, which percussion body (2) has an end hollow space (3). Fastened in the end section of the housing (1) is an air-distribution means (4) which projects into the end hollow space (3) of the percussion body (2). Attached on the side of the head part of the housing (1) is an anvil (5) which receives the blows of the percussion body (2). Furthermore, the device contains a mounting (6) which encloses at least with one of its ends the head part of the housing (1), is arranged coaxially with regard to the housing (1) and the anvil (5), and ensures the clamping of the head part of the housing (1) between the mounting (6) and the anvil (5). The invention can be used most effectively for sinking metal pipes into the ground and for driving sheet-metal tubular piles into the ground in the vertical or oblique direction. <IMAGE>
