The invention relates to a mining mortar for making roadways safe, consisting of natural anhydrite having a grain size distribution of between 0 and 25 mm with a fraction of 0-0.2 mm. Such a mortar is to be provided by enhanced independence of its setting properties from the surrounding temperature, which can be fairly high (for example above 40 DEG C) in deep mineworkings, and by improved resistance to attack by mine waters with a substantially extended range of uses as compared with the known anhydrite mortars. According to the invention, this is achieved by adding cement to the mortar, the weight ratio of the anhydrite grain fraction <0.2 mm to the added cement being between 1.5:1 and 3:1, preferably 2:1.
