The invention relates to a continuous casting device, in particular for the casting of steel, having roller frames (2), arranged underneath a sliding mould (1), for guiding and supporting the strand emerging from the sliding mould (1). In order to prevent the molten metal in the sliding mould (1) from running into the roller frames in an uncontrolled manner in the event of a break-through of the metal and causing damage there, the invention proposes that a shear-off slide (4, 4a) be arranged immediately below the sliding mould (1), the slide plate (4) of which shear-off slide cutting off the strand below the sliding mould (1) when it closes and closing the sliding mould (1). If required, it is also possible for two or more slide plates displaceable in opposite directions to be used and, situated adjacent to one another, these close the sliding mould jointly. <IMAGE>
