Gas protection device. Said gas protection device is intended to prevent accidents as a result of gas emerging from leaking pipelines. In contrast to known gas protection devices, this device is designed such that it is effective even when nobody is in the house. This object is achieved in that a cable leads from the laid, known early-warning system to the main gas tap and an actuating motor is assigned to this main tap, which actuating motor is supplied with power from a battery via the cable, by means of a contact in the early-warning system, and thus closes the main gas tap. At the same time, the main electrical power line is rendered inoperable in order to prevent a spark occurring if a switch is operated. An early-warning system must, of course, be installed in every room where there is a gas connection, together with a cable connection to the actuating motor and to the main protection device.
