Known jet turbine driven machine tools suffer considerable speed reductions when the load increases or varies. This results from interference between the spent air and the working jet. In the case of the present invention the turbine, driving a rotatable spindle with a tool holder, comprises a disc-shaped turbine rotor tightly enclosed by a turbine housing (8). The turbine rotor has peripherally arranged discrete recesses (37), each recess having a concave front actuation wall (37a) for the jet and one sidewardly arranged outlet opening (37c) in the axial direction of the rotor. The housing (8) has at least one inlet nozzle (9) directed towards the deepest section of the actuation wall (37a). A recess together with the housing forms an efficient guiding path and an expansion space for the jet medium.
|
