The hinge esp. for vehicle bodywork, has halves mounted on fixed and swivelling parts respectively, linked bya bolt. One part has forked members, surrounding a central member on the other part. The member stands upright on a fastening plate. The hing part in this half is formed by cutting a section of extruded profile to a small block. The latter is attached to a fastening plate by pressure welding. The resultant piece is aligned and machined on its end surfaces. It is then provided with a hinge eye hole.
