A mechanism for attaching an audio device in a motor vehicle with a dashboard, in which an opening (16) is constructed which is as large as the front of the audio device, comprises brackets which are attached to the front of the audio device and have engagement claws (19, 20) which engage with the front of the dashboard along the opening (16), tensioning elements (24) which are arranged in front of the audio device and have clips (25) which engage with the rear of the dashboard along the opening, threaded bores (26) formed in the tensioning elements, and screws (27) which are inserted into the threaded bores from the front of the dashboard and come to abut with the front of the audio device. Therefore, a screwing movement of the screws brings about a displacement of the tensioning elements (24) in such a way that the engagement claws (19, 20) and the clips (25) clamp the dashboard tightly between them from the front and rear. <IMAGE>
