The present invention relates to the lighting of showcases. It teaches that, for a more uniform dispersal and distribution of the light and to achieve freedom from dazzle for the user, the housings of the tubular lamps are arranged along the vertical showcase edges and are equipped on the showcase side with oblique louvres, the housings preferably being arranged on the narrow sides of the showcase and forming part of the supporting structure of the showcase. The invention teaches, furthermore, that the slats of the oblique louvres of the housings on a narrow side can be pointed in the same direction or can be directed towards the vertical central axis of the showcase. <IMAGE>
