The method is based on the principle of subdividing a certain absorption range into a number, for example ten, of equal steps and creating suitable samples whose light absorption is determined. This can be done by using a photometer which indicates the measured absorption digitally in the form of a single number (0....9), and specifically, in accordance with the step at which the absorption measured in this way occurs. A dilution series may, for example, be composed of eight samples which have increasing dilution ratios. The result obtained may then have the following form: Sample series 1 9 9 8 6 3 2 2 2 Sample series 2 9 9 9 9 7 3 2 2 etc. In the case of Sample series 1, the absorption already starts to decrease with the third sample, whereas this is only the case for the fifth sample in Sample series 2. <IMAGE>
