In order to be able to construct in a short time the structure for terracing the bed of stretches of running water and in the process obtain a fluidically advantageous structure corresponding to the biological requirements in terms of the water and fishing, its centre part consists of precast concrete members (1). These precast concrete members (1) have the basic shape of boxes open on one side, with an opening directed towards the outflow side and a closed end wall (4) jutting upwards, side walls (7) converging in a wedge shape towards the opening, a base plate (3), and a top cover wall (6) of narrower design than the base plate. The precast concrete members are connected to one another with their side walls bearing fully against one another, and the top cover wall forms an overflow crest under which a protected weir pool can form in the placed state inside the precast concrete member, which weir pool is for the most part filled with stones up to an area lying below the downstream level. <IMAGE>
