The novel watercraft is specifically intended for play and sport on water, with which a novel type of leisure activity is to come into being. For this purpose, the rower is arranged to sit in the forward seating direction, i.e. in the straddling position, on the floating body, in contrast to conventional boats. The floating body conveniently consists of two closed, symmetrically produced hollow bodies which are assembled in a suitable manner to form a floating body. As the schematic representation shows, the floating body (1) is boat-shaped in the lower part and is open from below over its entire length in such a way that a so-called water shaft (2) results in which the oar (3) serving for propulsion is arranged. The oar (3) functions as a one-armed lever with fulcrum (4) which the person seated on the floating body actuates in the direction of propulsion by pressing it forward (a) and pulling it towards himself (b). The water shaft also enables other drive means suitable for propulsion to be arranged instead of the oar. In practice, the floating body will be given a more pleasing form than shown here schematically. <IMAGE>
