O-(2,3-epoxypropyl)hydroximic esters of the formula <IMAGE> can be prepared by reacting hydroximic esters of the formula (II) <IMAGE> as such, or in the form of their alkali metal salts, where, in formula (II), R<1> and R<2> have the abovementioned meaning, (a) with epoxy compounds of the formula (III) <IMAGE> in which X denotes chlorine, bromine or a sulphonic ester group, or by condensing them (b) with 2-propanols of the formula (IV) <IMAGE> in which Y represents bromine or a sulphonic ester group, and subsequently dehydrochlorinating the resulting chlorohydrins to give the epoxides (I), or by allylating them (c) with allyl compounds of the formula (V) <IMAGE> in which X has the meaning given under (a), and oxidising the resulting olefins to give the epoxides (I). These compounds are starting compounds for the synthesis of novel, multifunctional, O-alkylhydroxyl amines possessing valuable pharmacological properties.
