In a device for printing the outer cylindrical surface of a body (15) symmetrical relative to a mid-axis, such as a bucket or the like, with a printing forme (14) which is movable in a straight line and on which the curved cylindrical surface of the body (15) forming the article to be printed rolls during the printing operation, the body (15) is held by a pivoting plate (16) which is equipped with a guide collar (28) projecting perpendicularly from the plate plane and engaging into a fixed guide gap and with a toothed ring (34) parallel to the guide collar (28) and connected to a drive for the straight movement of the printing forme (14). This arrangement makes it possible to print bodies (15) having on the outer cylindrical surface cross-sectional shapes which correspond to the shape of the guide collar (28). If the guide collar (28) is oval, bodies (15) having an oval shape can thus also be printed. <IMAGE>
