Castable magnesium fuel having a base of silicon

A castable solid fuel mixture is provided for use as propellant in a ducted rocket. The binder for the mixture is cross-linked polysiloxane. The polymeric polysiloxane which is cross-linked for the formation of the binder has a viscosity of about 12 to about 50 poise at 25 DEG C. The metal fuel of the mixture is a mixture of spherical and flake-shaped magnesium. The mixture contains about 16 to about 20% polysiloxane binder and 55 to 63% magnesium fuel. The oxidation agent is basically ammonium perchlorate.
