The invention relates to a crash helmet, in particular motor bike helmet, consisting of an external spherical cap made of a hard material, of a spherical cap part covering the chin region of the wearer and likewise made of a hard material between the face opening and the bottom opening of the helmet and of a cushioning arranged on the inside of the spherical cap which merges into a preferably reinforced lower end cushioning in the region of the spherical cap part covering the chin region. The special feature of the invention is the fact that the lower end cushioning is releasably fastened on the crash helmet at least in the region of chin and/or lower jaw. <IMAGE>
