The invention relates to a process for preparing oxothia compounds of the formula <IMAGE> in which Ph represents an optionally substituted 1,2-phenylene radical, X represents oxygen or sulphur, R1 represents optionally substituted monocyclic monooxaaryl or monothiaaryl, and R2 denotes hydrogen or an optionally substituted aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, and salts thereof, characterised in that a compound of the formula <IMAGE> in which R0 represents an etherified or esterified hydroxyl group or an optionally substituted amino group, or closes the ring of a salt thereof. The compounds which can be obtained in accordance with the process exhibit analgesic, antiinflammatory, uricosuric and antithrombotic properties.
