Process for reducing the content of dissociated metal ions in strongly acidic solutions

There are various metal ions which are only partly dissociated in acidic concentrated solutions. The remaining fraction is present as a complex. If this solution is applied to a cation exchanger, the exchanger can only take up the dissociated cations. The present process eliminates this disadvantage by heating the solution obtained from the cation exchange, which solution contains the complex salts. After the solution has been held for an experimentally determined time at high temperature, it is cooled and reapplied to a cation exchanger. The dissociated ions formed at the high temperature are now taken up. A fraction of the complex salts present at the start remains unchanged and is not taken up in the described manner.
