A device is disclosed comprising first and second capillary liquid transport zones (12, 50) provided by first and second pairs (18, 20; 56, 58) of opposing surfaces, the opposing surfaces (56, 58) of the second zone (50) both extending from the same one (20) of the pair of surfaces bounding the first zone (12). The inlet to the second zone (50) is a diverting aperture (70) that is formed in such same surface (20) and configured (i) to ensure complete wetting of the second pair (56, 58) of surfaces by the liquid and (ii) to provide a cross-sectional flow-through area greater than 0.2 mm<2>. |
