The invention discloses a device for the examination of the interior of body cavities with ultrasonic waves with which the operations necessary for introduction of an insert part into a body cavity and bending of a bending part (4) can be easily carried out by one operator. In an ultrasonic probe (1) an ultrasonic probe head (3) for emitting and receiving ultrasonic waves and a bending part (4) for bending the ultrasonic probe head (3) are connected to each other on the outer side of an elongate insert part (2) to be introduced into a body cavity, and a holding part (68) and an angle knob (122) for the bending part (4) are provided on the hand side in the back of the insert part (2), it usually being difficult to insert the insert part (2) into a body cavity when the holding part (68) and the angle knob (122) are provided in positions separate from the axis of the insert part (2) unless the insert part (68) is retained, so that bending is difficult. Therefore, in the invention the insert part (2) is designed in a position in the proximity of the axial direction of the insert part (2) and the angle knob (122) on the side face of the holding part (68) in such a way that it improves the bending function. <IMAGE>
