PURPOSE:To allow the same instrument to remove a coating from an optical fiber core and also cut a strand by forming grooves for holding a coating removing knife edge for the optical fiber core, and a cutting knife edge for the strand, and the core in the main body of an optical fiber core processing instrument. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber core is fixed in holding grooves 11 and 11'. Then when force is applied to terminal proessing instrument bodies 15 and 15', removing knife edges 9 and 9' cut coatings 2 and 3 and at the same time, the cutting knife edge 10 makes a flaw 16 in the strand 1. Then, as the force to the terminal processing instruments is relaxed, the coating removing knife edges 9 and 9' and cutting knife edge 10 are moved back and when the optical fiber core is held in one hand and the terminal processing instrument bodies 15 and 15' are moved in an axial direction of the optical fiber core, holding parts 12 and 12' moves while holding the coatings 1 and 3 by frictional force, etc., to cut optical fiber strand 1. Thus, the coating removal of the opetical fiber core and the cutting of the strand are carried out by the same instruments. |
