<p>The optical fiber connector is used for assembling a pair of optical fibers (15, 15 min ) in an aligned position. The connector comprises first and second ferrules (30, 30 min ), each adapted to be fixed to the end of an optical fiber (15, 15 min ). Each of said ferrules (30, 30 min ) are formed with a first aperture extending a certain distance from a front flat end (65, 65 min ) to a rear end of said ferrule along a bevel axis with a predetermined angle to a ferrule axis. A second aperture is parallel to said ferrule axis extending from said rear end of said ferrule. The first aperture is shaped and dimensioned to permit a stripped end of a single optical fiber (15, 15 min ) to be positioned within said first aperture and the fiber is so positioned that the fiber end and said front end are coplanar. A receptacle body (70) guides said first and second ferrules (30, 30 min ) which are positioned within said receptacle body (70) so that said front flat ends (65, 65 min ) of said ferrules (30, 30 min ) contact each other and the axes of said stripped ends of said single optical fiber (15, 15 min ) of said first and second ferrules (30, 30 min ) are on a common axis. This connector provides for high reliability and good transmission quality.</p> |
