The tape cartridge comprises a case (1), a lid member (10) having a front plate (11) and rotatably mounted on the cartridge case so be rotated between a closed position and an opened position, an opening (31) defined in the bottom portion of the front plate of the lid member for receiving a standard pin of a recording device and butting means (32, 33) projecting from the front end of the bottom wall of the cartridge case to protrude in the opening of the lid member up to a position substantially corresponding to the middle of thickness of the front plate when the lid member is in the closed position.
