PURPOSE:To detect the amount of toner sticking to a probe at its prescribed position, by driving the probe driven by a driving means under the synchronous control of a signal generator. CONSTITUTION:A CPU37 supplies a prescribed number of pulses to a driver 38 on the basis of a signal generated by the signal generator 27 to turn a pulse motor 28. At this time, the pulse motor 28 turns by an extent corresponding to the supplied number of pulses to rotate the probe 22. Therefore, a CPU27 knows the timing of one turn of the probe 22, so the stopping position of the probe 22 is specified for every copying operation to detect toner 17 through a toner amount detector 25 at the same position of the probe 22 in reuse even when the power supply is interrupted during the copying operation. Thus, the amount of sticking toner is detected by the prescribed position of the probe. |
