PURPOSE:To suppress warpage by the effect of heat and to provide a liquid crystal display element having excellent display characteristics by superposing the upper and lower polarizing electrode substrates wherein the polarizing plates consisting of uniaxially stretched films as backing are used as substrates so as to parallel the stretching directions thereof. CONSTITUTION:The distance between the two end faces on the short side of an element is defined as (l), and the max. distance in the curved parts of the elements as (h), and the degree of warpage is evaluated as h/l. When the elements are formed by superposing upper and lower polarizing electrode substrates 12, 13 at 0 deg., 30 deg., 60 deg. and 90 deg. angles gamma assumed their stretching directions 12a, 13a, and the degrees of the warpage thereof are determined, the element of gamma=0 deg. at 120 deg.C, that is, the element wherein the stretching directions 12a, 13a of the substrates 12, 13 are paralleled is smallest in the degree of warpage, that is, <=0.01. As the gamma increases, the degree of warpage increases and when gamma=90 deg., the warpage increases as high as 0.1. |
