PURPOSE:To largely raise the oil trapping performance of an oil fence by a method in which oil fences of different drafts are extended doubly back and forth at a given interval in such a way that oils flowing out of the front fences are trapped on the back of the fences. CONSTITUTION:Oil fences 1 and 1' consisting of an anchor rope 2 and a net 3 are extended in double layer back and forth against the tidal current on the sea surface 4. In this case, the oil fences 1 and 1' are set at an interval (a) of about 10m, with a draft (b) of about 60cm for the front fence and a draft (c) of about 1cm for the rear fence. By this, a dead water region (eddy flow generated on the back of the front fence 1) generated on the back of the front fence 1 is extended to near the rear fence 1', but oils leaked as oil droplets from the front fence 1 afloat between the fences 1 and 1' and are trapped in a stable state on the back of the front fence 1 by the back flow of tidal current on the water surface near the dead water region. |
