PURPOSE:To improve the adhesion between a core shaft part made of steel and a body part made of cast iron in the stage of producing a roll made of cast iron having the core shaft made of steel by enclosing the core shaft made of steel having required strength over the entire part from both bearing parts to the body part. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of producing a roll made of cast iron having a core shaft made of steel, a core shaft 1 made of carbon steel which is formed as slender as possible within the range where the shaft withstands the bending force by external load as a roll is enclosed by cast iron with the body part 3 including the bearing parts 2 at both ends as a roll. Since the shaft 1 is relatively small in diameter, it has small heat capacity, and the shaft 1 and the cast iron part are melt stuck to each other and are bonded firmly by the heat possessed by the molten cast iron in the stage of insert casting. |
