7-acetamidocephalosporins are disclosed herein which are substituted at position 3 of the cephalosporin nucleus with the group <IMAGE> wherein R2 is selected from the group hydrogen, amino, C1 to C6 alkylamino and di-C1 to C6 alkylamino and R3, R4 and R5 are the same or different and are selected from the group hydrogen, hydroxy, C1 to C6 alkyl, C1 to C6 alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, phenyl, substituted phenyl, heterocyclic aryl, and R3 and R4 or R4 and R5 taken together are the moiety -CH2(CH2)2CH2-.
