PURPOSE:To obtain enhanced color reproducibility and contrast and to enhance the quality of an image, by inhibiting the transmission of light spectra emitted from a color cathode-ray tube in the region of noneffective wavelengths and by regulating the transmission in the region of the whole visible light in a well- balanced state. CONSTITUTION:A filter which is placed in front of a color cathode-ray tube, a fluorescent display panel or the like is made of a plastic material such as polymethyl methacrylate, polycarbonate contg. a dye or pigment such as phthalocyanine blue. When wavelength is expressed by x and transmittance by y , the dye or pigment is added to the plastic material so as to show characteristics satisfying (A) 20<=y <=70 in 400<=x<=430, (B) 40<=y <=85 in 430<x<=560, (C) 10<= y <=73 in 560<x<=630 and (D) 50<=y <=90 in 630<x<=720 and making the average transmittance in 560<x<=630 0.25-0.85 when the average transmittance in 430<x<=560 is assumed to be 1. |
