PURPOSE:To easily obtain an attachment and detachment type optical fiber connector of high accuracy, by fixing a fiber in a hollow member and by cutting the member to form a connecting terminal. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 2 is put in a hollow columnar member 1, and a fixing agent 3 is filled from a nozzle 5 to fix the fiber 2. The member 1 is cut at the nearly central part, and the cut ends are polished perpendicularly to the direction of the fiber. The fiber 2 protruded from the opposite side of the member 1 is melted with discharge arc and connected 11 to other fiber cable to form a connecting terminal. When both terminals are connected to each other, the optical axes are allowed to easily coincide with each other on the basis of the external shapes by means of a positioning frame restraining the external shape of the hollow member and metallic clamping fittings for bringing the ends into close contact with each other. |
