PURPOSE:To provide an adsorbent having improved moldability, heat resistance, strength, etc. in the stage of molding active carbon by using a binder consisting of powder of granulated balst furnace slag and alkali metal hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:An adsorbent which is produced by kneading active carbon and a binder consisting of granulated blast furnace slag of about 3,000mm.<2>/g Blaine specific surface area and alkali metal hydroxide sch as NaOH with water, molding the mixture to desired shapes and hardening the moldings and is suited for deodorants, etc. The alkali metal hydroxide is used in this binder usually at about 0.5-15pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. the granulated blast furnace slag. The adsorbent is compounded at ratios of about 100 parts the granulated blast furnace slag, about 5-50 parts the binder, and about 50-200 parts water. If necessary, water reducing agents for cement and molding assistants are added to provide adequate moldability with less water to be used, whereby the adsorbent having high strength is obtained. |
