PURPOSE:To raise the resonance frequency of a bearing in the direction of thrust without bringing up the friction torque, by loading a pre-load in the direction of thrust upon the bearing from both sides of the inner race or the outer race. CONSTITUTION:An arm 24 on which a magnetic head is mounted is fixed to a shaft 21 and the shaft 21 is fitted to a housing 28 through bearings 20a and 20b. The bearing 20a is pressed against the shaft 21 from the housing side, namely, from both side faces of the outer race of the bearing 20a by means of pre-load springs 29a and 29b. Therefore, the resonance frequency of the bearing in the direction of the thrust can be raised effectively without reducing the life of the bearing and bringing up the friction torque. |
