PURPOSE:To improve recording and reproducing efficiency, by clamping a main magnetic pole by magnetic material parts where auxiliary magnetic pole parts and return paths for magnetic flux from the main mangetic pole are formed by being split. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head H is formed in one body by joining a protective film 23 to one side surface of the main magnetic pole 22 of a soft magnetic material thin-film layer and clamping guard material blocks 24 and 24' from both sides. Those guard material blocks 24 and 24' consist of nonmagnetic material parts 25 and 25' extending from the opposing contact surface for a magnetic medium to a necessary position and magnetic material parts 26 and 26' joined to the rear parts of said parts 25 and 25'. The magnetic material parts 26 and 26' have auxiliary magnetic pole parts 27 and 27' provided with a coil 4 to be joined to the main magnetic pole 22 and groove parts 29 and 29' for dividing return path parts 28 and 28' for magnetic flux from the main magnetic pole; and the main magnetic pole 22 is provided with a coil 24 through those groove parts 29 and 29' and auxiliary magnetic pole parts 27 and 27'. |
