PURPOSE:To easily and high-precisely measure an organic halogen compound, by a method wherein a formed halogenated hydrogen is determined by bringing liquid, containing an organic halogenated matter, into contact with active coal and burning the active coal, adsorbing the halogenated matter, in gas containing O2. CONSTITUTION:After a specified volume of liquid containing an organic halogenated matter is placed in a quartz board holding active coal to adsorb it, active coal is burned in an electric furnace through feeding of O2 gas or air to perform a quantitative determination through coulomb-titration of the formed halogenated hydrogen. In the case of a minute quantity of an organic halogenated matter content, a large amount of liquid is brought to flow in an active coal column, and the organic halogenated matter which is condensed and adsorbed to the active coal is analyzed. In case a liquid sample contains no water, generation of halogenated hydrogen is smoothened by adding a small amount of water to an adsorbing active coal at a burning time or feeding a small quantity of steam. In case an inorganic halogenated matter is contained in a sample, after an organic halogenated matter adsorbing active coal is extracted for removal by a salt aqueous solution containing neither halogen nor alkali metallic salt, it is burned. |
