PURPOSE:To improve the S/N, by applying the noise charge transfer cycles of >=2 times before the signal charge is read out into a vertical signal line. CONSTITUTION:The vertical switches 2A and 2B which are controlled by vertical scanning lines 10A and 10B connect photocells 1A and 1B to a vertical signal line 3. The 1st transfer gate 4 connects the line 3 to the 2nd electrode 5A of the 1st capacitor 5. The 2nd transfer gate 6 connects the electrode 5A to a potential well of an MIS electrode 9. The electrode well of the electrode 9 connects the gate 6 to a horizontal CCD7. The channel of a clearing switch 8 connects the potential well of the electrode 9 to a drain 8A of the switch 8. The noise charge is read out through the gates 4 and 6 before the signal charge is read out to the line 3 and then absorbed by a power supply through the channel of the switch 8. |
