Class 39(3) An electric iron for right or left hand use includes a handle 12 into one side 14 of which near one end extends a supply cable 15, said handle 12 having a transverse trough 23, into which the cable may be sprung so that it is doubled back and extends from the opposite side of the iron. One side of the trough is formed by a rearward protuberance 20 on the handle, and the other side is formed by a projection 22 on the rear of the handle or by a spring clip (Fig. 3 not shown) attached thereto. The cable carries a protective cover 16 and is connected to a heating element embedded in the sole plate 10.
