PURPOSE:In the presence of a specific initiator, the rubber components are kneaded with acrylic acid or its derivative and heat treated to effect solid- phase graft polymerization in the air, thus producing modified rubber that is used as an adhesive or adhesive composition with a variety of fluidity. CONSTITUTION:(A) At least one selected from natural rubber, polyisoprene rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer rubber, isoprene- isobutylene copolymer rubber and reclaimed rubbers therefrom, is kneaded together with acrylic acid or its derivative and (C) an organic peroxide with a 1 minute half-life temperature of 190-230 deg.C and an active oxygen content of 8-12% such as 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di(tert.-butylperoxy)hexine-3 and heat treated to effect the graft polymerization of the component B onto the component A, thus producing the objective modified rubber. |
