The displacement casting machine has a bed (1), on which is secured a pedestal (2), two dies (3 and 3'), which are arranged symmetrically with respect to the vertical plane of division, and two lateral cheeks (5 and 5a) secured on one of the dies (3'). At least one of the dies (3) is mounted displaceably on the surface of the bed (1). Each die (3, 3') carries one mould half (4, 4') for shaping the surface of the workpiece. In the machine, the zone (6) for receiving metal is bounded by the wall of the pedestal (2), the walls of the lateral cheeks (5 and 5a) and the walls of the dies (3 and 3'). A recess (7) is formed in the wall of the pedestal (2) over the entire surface which comes into contact with metal. Machined on the contour of the movable die (3), which comes into contact with the pedestal (2) and the lateral cheeks (5 and 5a) during the operation of the machine, is a groove (8). In the planes which are parallel to the direction of displacement, the said groove has a triangular cross-section. The front face (9) of the groove (8) encloses an acute angle ( alpha ) with the direction (A) of displacement of the die (3). <IMAGE>
