<p>Flexible seal strips of thermoplastic material are anchored to the borders of qaps or channels in masonry walls etc. by a slow hardening adhesive (I) carried by a microporous layer made from thermoplastic fibres, where the seal is initially maintained on vertical or overhanging surfaces by local spot welding to patches of thermoplastic sheet secured by a contact adhesive (II), long term adhesion being ensured by the reactive adhesive (I). Used for applying strips of e.g. flexible PVC waterstop profiles over drainage channels opposite joints in the surfaces of concrete-lined tunnels etc. Avoids use of special nails or of temporary external bracing to hold the strips in position while the reactive adhesive cures sufficiently to retain the solid profile in position. Pref. the lonq term adhesive used is epoxy resin based and solvent-free.</p> |
