PURPOSE:To prevent the sticking of non-metallic inclusions on the inside surface of an immersion nozzle and to prevent the clogging of said nozzle by mounting a piezoelectric oscillator in one body to the nozzle, and applying ultrasonic oscillations continuously to the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A recessed part 2b is formed on the outside surface of the part located on the side of an immersion nozzle 2 upper than a mold 3 in continuous casting, and the tip of a piezoelectric oscillator 6 is embedded thereon and is fixed integrally therein. Electricity is applied from a high frequency generator 8 through a lead wire 7 to the oscillator 6 to apply ultrasonic oscillations to the nozzle 2, thereby oscillating the nozzle continuously and ultrasonically. The sticking of the non-metallic inclusions in the molten steel on the inside surface of the nozzle 2 is prevented by the ultrasonic oscillations and the quality of cast ingots and operating efficiency are improved. |
