PURPOSE:To carry out the hot gluing of a tape piece to the outer circumference of the opening of a hollow cylinder such as can, etc., in high efficiency by cutting a thermoplastic tape to the length of the face for hot gluing, and applying the cut tape to the face using a particular hot gluing apparatus utilizing vacuum suction means. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic tape 10 transferred by the feeding apparatus 14 is wound around the bottom face 24a of the groove by vacuum sucking action, further transferred by the rotation of the roll 18, stopped by stopping the rotation of the roll 18 when th groove 34 reaches in front of the cutter 31, and cut to the length of the face 44a for hot gluing. The obtained tape piece 10a is released from the vacuum suction hole 46 at the hot gluing station B, rotated at the circumferential velocity of (v) from the hot gluing face 44a, and applied to the open end 17a of the can 17 heated at the hot gluing temperature along the whole length of the outer circumference of the can 17 by the cooperating action of the heat-resistant elastic rubber layer 44b and the cushioning layer 54b of the mandrel 54. |
