PURPOSE:To carry on a talk with the opposite party by releasing the holding state of a certain telephone set at another telephone set. CONSTITUTION:When information corresponding to a predetermined specific number is inputted to a central controller 5 through an extension control circuit 2b, the central controller 5 controls a write/read control circuit 6 and retrieves a storage device 7 based on the number of a telephone set 1a which is inputted successively to read out the number of the line of the opposite party currently in holding state which is stored in correspondence to the number of the tele phone set 1a. Then, this is transmitted to a line answering means 8, which controls a channel switch 4 to connect a telephone set 1b to the line wire 9a which is held. In this state, the line wire 9a is released from being held and a telephone call from the telephone set 1b through the line wire 9a is enabled.
